Josh Chertoff is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and the co-founder of Bows & Arrows. Born and raised in New York in a family of musicians, he spent much of his early life immersed in music and film and made his first movie in his parents’ basement when he was 11 years old. After graduating from NYU Film School, Josh began his career directing music videos in Brooklyn before being hired to direct a documentary series for A&E which took him across the country for a year in a cramped van with a five-member crew. Josh has directed a number of acclaimed short films, including Duke and the Buffalo (which premiered at Tribeca), El Porvenir (which premiered at SXSW), and Wawd Ahp (which won Best Midnight Short at SXSW). Josh has directed commercials and branded content for clients such as The New York Times, BBC, Alfa Romeo, Adobe, Reebok, Loréal, Condé Nast Traveler, and GE. His style incorporates bold imagery paired with strong music choices that combine to create visceral emotional experiences.
